What is Maybank QRPay?

Maybank QRPay is a cashless payment solution that enables customers to make payments to merchants using a unique two-dimensional quick-response (QR) code. This service is available on the Maybank app.

 

What are the services available on Maybank QRPay?

  • Make QR payments to merchants by scanning the QR code or presenting a QR code for scanning
  •  Perform fund transfers within close proximity with another Maybank app user
  •  Search for outlets and promotions
  • Change the daily transaction limit and the cumulative limit for QR Payments
  • Change preferred debiting the account

Who can use Maybank QRPay?
All new and existing Maybank2u customers with the Maybank app on their smartphones are able to use QRPay services

What is the minimum requirement to use Maybank QRPay?

These are the requirements to use Maybank QRPay:

i. Your mobile phone is equipped with the Maybank app
ii. Your mobile device must not be jailbroken or rooted
iii. An Internet connection
iv. Mobile device operating system must be iOS 8.0 and above or Android version 4.4 and above

How do I set up Maybank QRPay for the first time?

i. Select the ‘QRPay’ icon at the pre-login screen of the Maybank app
ii. Login to your account to proceed
iii. Select your preferred debiting account
iv. Set your preferred daily transaction limit and the cumulative limit for QRPay
v. Enable and allow camera access function if it is disabled

 

What are the functions available for QRPay within the Maybank app?

There are 3 types of functions available:

  •  SCAN This is a merchant-presented QR Code whereby the Maybank app user will scan the merchant’s static/ dynamic QR Code to perform QR payment. The source of debiting the account for this is via the current account/ savings account or MAE account only.
  • PAY This is a customer-presented QR Code whereby the Maybank app user will generate the QR Code and present it to the merchant to scan the QR Code and process the transaction. The source of debiting the account for this is via current account/ savings account, MAE account, debit card, or credit card.
  •  RECEIVE This is a Peer-to-Peer transfer function whereby Beneficiary (a Maybank app user) will be generating the QR Code and present it to the Sender (also a Maybank app user) to scan and perform electronic money transfer.

 

What are the types of limits I can set?

There are 2 types of limit which you are able to set for Maybank QRPay transactions:

  •  Daily Transaction Limit
  •  Cumulative Limit

 

What is Daily Transaction Limit?

  • Daily Transaction Limit is the maximum allowable transaction amount for the day
  • Your maximum daily transaction limit for QRPay is RM1,000
  • You can change to lower the limit via the Maybank app based on your comfort level

 

What is the Cumulative Limit?

  • Cumulative Limit is the maximum allowable transaction amount without password or biometric authentication
  • The default and maximum cumulative limit is RM250 and you may change this limit via Maybank app
  • For payments below RM250 or the set preferred cumulative limit, no password or biometric authentication is required
  • For payments above RM250 or the set preferred cumulative limit, your password or biometric access is required for security reasons

 

How can I change my payment limits?

i. Log in to your mobile Maybank2u account
ii. Select the menu on the top left corner of your screen
iii. Select “ME” and select “QRPAY”
iv. You may change your preferred payment limit at the Payment Limit tab

The limit will be effective immediately but please be advised that the maximum limit that you can set for QRPay is only up to RM 1000 per day.

 

How do I select my preferred QRPay debiting account?

i. Log in to your mobile Maybank2u account

ii. Select the menu on the top left corner of your screen

iii. Select “ME” and select “QRPAY”

iv. You may change your preferred payment limit at the Default Account tab
