Kids now are more advance than us, with the Internet, handphone, online games and now debit card while I only know how to make kite or gun from wood at their age.

So now student especially in boarding school that are far from home, studying in oversea or even your daughter at home can get a Tune card. Since Tune Money Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Tengku Zafrul Aziz said that now everyone can have it (12 -18 years).

It is a brilliant idea since parents can top up their children Tune Card here in Malaysia, and they can spend it in US for example. If I am not mistaken parents usually bank in money using Telegraphic Transfer (TT) and have to pay service charge and of course long que. Student in Secondary School age 12 to 17, study in different states can use the Tune Card by calling or sms their parent to top up their card online. Simple as that.

Children can soon go cashless with debit card

KUALA LUMPUR: A few weeks from now, children as young as 12 will be able to swipe a debit card and leave their cash at home.

Tune Money Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Tengku Zafrul Aziz said applications for the prepaid Visa Tune Card would be made available for children aged 12 to 18 years.

The Tune Card is a debit card that gives instant online approval with no credit check and allows for cash withdrawals at ATMs worldwide. The annual fee is RM9.99.

Currently, credit cards are allowed only for those aged 18 and above.

Tengku Zafrul said: “Children can buy things for themselves and it will be easier for parents to transfer money to their children. They won’t have to give them so much cash.

“This way, parents will be able to easily monitor and control their children’s spending, as every transaction will be recorded.”

“We believe there is a niche market, especially for parents who have teenage children studying overseas,” he said.

The complete details on the Tune Card for teenagers will be announced on Feb 1.

Tune Card is a Visa Debit Card and PayPal only recognize visa card to cash out your money.

For the time being, yes only Visa and they will charge you for USD5.

You can use any Debit/credit Visa Card to cash out your PayPal money but Debit/Credit Mastercard can be use only to verify your PayPal Account.

Uhh, i didn’t know Pay Pal allowed money transfers for Malaysians at all (unless you use those US international banking cards or something like that). Hmm, about the tune card.. i’m wondering what kind of charges they have.

Like the one from Eon bank i signed up for, there’s an RM20 annual fee if i don’t use the card more than 12 times in a year. And since i’d most likely only reload RM100 max, RM20 deducted is ALOT. Oh and reloading using any method besides doing it at the bank will cost another RM2 or RM5. Sakit hati!

    BYE!

    p.s. But RM1 items 12 times. Haha!

Oh no, I wish my 5 year daughter will not be able to do this yet. She seems to be impulsive in what she wants so she may buy without thinking. Right now all buying is moderated and controlled by me and I guide her in choosing what she wants by asking simple questions like. Do you want this or that? Then I highlight features of each toy and have her decide saying you can only have one.
