Recently Government has announced that MNP will be on trial from September to October. For Klang Valley user, supposedly we can change our telco swiftly and choose the best deal for our phone package.
MNP is a government directive and regulatory requirement. There will be a Limited Live Trial from 29 August, to early October 2008. MNP will officially be launched in Malaysia from early October 2008 onwards.
The weird thing is I don’t see any ad on the media like TV or paper to tell us in details in how to change our plan. I did some research and try to check at these Telco Official Site and found out that there is a page on FAQ about MNP and porting location in Lembah Klang for each Telco. That is all.
I am not sure why there is no advertisement on TV to promote MNP, it’s look like these Telcos try to keep this MNP silence. Because if they explain it in more details I bet more dissatisfy user will change their Telco. As at this moment, the Telcos keep us in dark. For me it is not fair, we user have all the rights
Hopefully Government will do something about this as this MNP momentum is too slow.

Like you said, telcos are afraid that they might lose customers… especially when now we are free to switch! takut beb!
September 10th, 2008 at 2:47 pm

Patient dude, it was the gov’s instruction that all telcos are only allowed to promote their MNP services in Oct.
Till then….. rilek la

@ eugene – Yes, you guys are lucky free internet. That’s mean you can make more money online using free services. You want to get me banned ahh. If you want to click just click maa, don’ have to tell me.
By the way, I already ad you rite.
September 29th, 2008 at 12:58 am
Please…. Don’t speculate… You are very wrong…
MCMC does not allow any advertising until 15th October.
Even the number of location is limited to 5 in Klang Valley ONLY.
October 1st, 2008 at 12:38 am
It should go nationwide really soon as October has arrived. I wonder how the network operators are going to launch their counter attack as Digi has been promoting their packages and plans very aggressive lately, promoting their lowest call rate, one simple plan and etc.
October 15th, 2008 at 11:09 am
it’s been 15th Oct and I am still eagerly waiting for the TV add.. I think it’s one of the governments rule for telco’s not to widely advertise about MNP until the nationwide launch just to ensure fair competition..
October 15th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
yanti,
me too. I am not sure about that. All telco will play silent game about this MNP. Mark my words.
October 23rd, 2008 at 11:18 am
Telcos won’t play silent game on MNP. For the Telcos, it is about maintaining and getting new customers. Keeping it silent won’t generate any news subscribers and boost their profits. And this is a big opportunity to repositioned themselves again.
Read up on MNP in other countries first before you throw comments about Telcos being silent. No Telcos will keep silent. The WAR is coming.
October 23rd, 2008 at 11:31 am
@ wes-wi – yup I am totally wrong. The war just begun. Digi has started with they creative ad while Celcom’s Ad featuring Harith Iskandar is sux. This MNP war will not complete without Maxis joining in. Mm can’t wait to see that.
October 26th, 2008 at 7:46 am
And with MNP going nationwide, I already have more than 50 friends made the switch, particularly, the smarter choice, Digi. Now, even I am tempted to make the switch since the % of Maxis users are dropping as days go by. After all, who can resist Digi that offers one flat / lowest call rates with handsome rewards given out every now and then?

I think MNP war has been started. Now most of the ISP started the TV commercial.
